Any living or social system, productive or distribution, if isolated from the environment around it, degrades, decomposes and disappears. In economics, every part is unique but parted in a process that affects everyone, as in an ecosystem. The solitary enterprise has entered a crisis. Only those belonging to systems with a strong integration emerge, those capable of enhancing the multidimensionality in their relationships with their neighbour, with work, with society are the most suitable to survive.
OUR VISION
To combine philosophies of select Tuscan family owned wineries with the intention of promoting Tuscan wine throughout the globe.
OUR MISSION
Ring of Estates carries with it the responsibility of introducing the wine lover to the main Doc’s and DOCG’s of Tuscany through the wineries and families representative of their areas of origin.
Here are some of our members:
Castello Tricerchi
The Tricerchi is an ancient family whose origins date back to the Middle Ages. The first documents testify their presence in the Monte dei Nove, the “Good Government” of 9 families who led Siena from 1287 to 1355 under the Medici. Numerous manuscripts report the Tricerchi as Homini d’Arme, in the Battle of Monteaperti between Florence and Siena. The Family was represented by Sir Alessandro Tricerchi, Knight of the High Thoughts, whose motto was “not in latera pro nos” (not through side paths), but straight to the sky, for the love of these lands. In 1441, with the Spanish invasion, the Tricerchi completed the construction of the castle along the Via Francigena, starting a strong relationship with the Church. The symbol of the family has always been a bull on three circles. This has been maintained by the Squarcia’s Family, the 17th generation direct descendants, today producers of Brunello di Montalcino. Castello Tricerchi estate extends for 400 hectares north of Montalcino, which 13 hectares of Sangiovese divided into 7 vineyards. The cellars are located in the ancient dungeons of the Castle, where the natural microclimate allow the Sangiovese a traditional ageing in large Slavonian oak barrels.
Villanoviana Bolgheri
Villanoviana was born from passion for good wine and love for this part of Tuscany, from our will to return to the roots of our culture and to cultivate our land with respect for nature and environment just as was usual long time ago. Memory of first farmers that worked in these lands to produce wine, leaded us to name our farm Villanoviana, as the civilization ancestors of the Etruscans. So in this land between sea and Mediterranean scrubland, starts our charming travel in good quality wine’s world. The farm has about 6 hectares of vineyards of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Vermentino and Viognier. All vine varieties are cultivated with spurred cordon, with a density of 6.000 stumps for hectares, all with respect for nature and environment. Nearness to the sea and sun’s exposure give to wines minerality and just a little bit of acidity that characterizes terroir where they come from. Cellar has a new conception aesthetics, with a ventilated front in“wood-look”ceramic that guarantees a correct thermoregulation of spaces. In winemaking rooms, cellar has cement vases for fermentation of biological grapes. Underground, aging room with French barriques lays at controlled temperature.
Capezzana
Capezzana is owned and managed by the Contini Bonacossi’s since 1920. Today, the fourth and fifth generations are running together the winery. The family’s approach has always been oriented towards the quality, respect for the nature and the sustainable development of the tradition. As Conte Ugo Contini Bonacossi loved to say “tradition should be seen not as something established and immovable, like a ‘statue’, but rather as a line along which we move: a ship following a long route…”.
Carmignano is a small Tuscan area, 30 Km west from Florence, where wine was produced since Etruscan times. Smallest Tuscan DOCG, recognized since vintage 1988, it is one of the world’s first four appellations introduced in 1716 by the Grand Duke of Tuscany. For the appellation, Carmignano wines need to blend at least 65% of Sangiovese with from10- 20% of Cabernet which was brought in the 1500 to this area by Caterina de’ Medici.
Tenuta di Capezzana is proud to be certified Organic and to represent the character of the land of origin using natural territorial yeasts, eliminating the need for starter yeasts in the fermentation process.
Lombardo
Located in the heart of Montepulciano, the Lombardo Company, founded in 1972 by Antonino, father of the current owner Giacinto, is composed of about 35 ha of vineyards, with the vast majority planted in Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile). The plants are divided into various vineyards located in Caggiole, Confino, S.Polo and Gracciano, where the company is also based. The soil of Caggiole is full of sandstone (tufo) - perfect for producing elegant non-tannic wines. Confino and Gracciano is rich in clay soil producing very powerful and tannic wines. The cellars are located on the Provincial Road of Montepulciano, where the winemaking, refining and bottling department is located, and in Via Umbria, in the frame of the 18th-century villa, which houses the family, the cellars and tasting room.
